Maria Dummermuth

Maria is a pilates, yoga, and fitness instructor in Cedar Rapids, IA. For the past 15 years she has dedicated her education, free-time, and passion to fitness and wellness pursuits. While currently working towards completing her 500 RYT yoga  certification, she is a certified Stott Pilates certified instructor, an AFAA certified group fitness instructor, and a Les Mills certified instructor. It brings her great joy to share her passion for health and well-being with others, and she hopes to inspire many to live their life to it’s greatest potential.

Maria’s wellness journey began in the group fitness arena and evolved into a pursuit of knowledge on how the mind and body connection can work to heal itself. She took her Pilates studies from Rise Karns-Stokstad, in Fairfield, IA, and learned not only about the amazing power of the physical body and the healing benefits of Pilates, but she also learned about the emotional and spiritual connection between the body and the mind. She dove into the study of energetic healing with a Level I & II Matrix Energetics course with Richard Bartlett and also took her Level I & II Reiki Attunements, studying under Mary Thompson, of North Liberty. Also during this time, she pursued multiple yoga trainings and workshops with Marsha Nieland of Cedar Rapids, and other various Anusara Yoga instructors.

In 2008, she became co-owner and instructor at The Pilates Center of Cedar Rapids, where she taught Pilates on an individual or small group basis utilizing pilates equipment. This was an amazing time of growth and partnership for Maria, but she soon came to realize that she missed her true passion – teaching to groups.

In 2013, she left her job and co-owner position at the Pilates Center of Cedar Rapids to pursue her true love of teaching group classes. She is currently teaching a variety of classes at Heat Yoga. While taking a leap of faith to teach classes only, she is working towards fulfilling her Shiva Rea Prana Flow Vinyasa yoga certification.

Maria believes that movement can be used as a healing tool for the body and is so excited to share this with all of her classes!
